Chiropractor in Marietta Offers Back Pain Relief

There are many reasons behind back pain. Some of these reasons could be: abnormal curvatures, muscle sprain/strain, a deeper visceral issue, or a structural problem. Our Marietta Chiropractor makes sure to find out the reason behind your back pain through extensive examination and what to do for it moving forward.

There are excellent stretches and other modalities that can be done to provide relief for back pain. Some of these stretches include: cat-camel pose, dynamic flexion/extension moves, and trunk rotation. Below, we’ll explain how to do each one.

Beginning with the cat-camel pose, start off on all fours – preferably on a soft surface. From there, arch your back as if a string attached to your mid-back and lifting you up. After you’ve reached a maximum “camel” hump, arch your back in the opposite direction. Imagine as if now there is a string attached to your stomach and it is pulling you down from the mid-section. You’ll notice that as you do this, your neck will also follow suit. Do this “cat-camel” pose 8-10 times for 2-3 sets.

Second back pain relief exercise is the dynamic trunk flexion/extension routine. Begin by taking one step out forward. Raise both arms out in front of you reaching towards the ceiling. Hold for 1-2 seconds and immediately go back to starting position. From there, you’ll want to alternate which leg goes out forward. Do this routine for the same amount of reps and sets as mentioned above.

The exercise routine you can do for your back pain is dynamic trunk rotation. Similar to the last exercise, take one step out forward. Focus on a target directly in your line of sight. From there, cross your arms and turn to one side all while keeping your gaze straight. Retreat back to starting position. Alternate legs and repeat to turning your trunk to the opposite direction. Do this exercise for the same amount of repetitions and sets as above.

Lastly, make sure that your upper cervical spine is checked by an Upper Cervical chiropractor. When there is a structural misalignment in the upper cervical spine, only a specialty chiropractor is able to analyze it in detail and make the necessary correction. Abnormal alignment often times can lead to back pain and other health problems.
